Relief for Haitian Earthquake Victims

HIMSS Statement from H. Stephen Lieber

Since the devastating earthquake occurred in Haiti, HIMSS member companies, organizations and individuals have been seeking direction on how best to support the global relief effort. The United States Agency for International Development is directing all such inquiries to the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) where their support can be registered and coordinated with the global relief effort.

H. Stephen Lieber, CAE, President and CEO of HIMSS said, “While the impact on the Haitian people is beyond our comprehension, HIMSS members’ compassion is again demonstrated through their support of these efforts. I’m urging everyone and every organization to contribute in their own way to assist in alleviating this crisis. It’s from the generosity of our members and their organizations that HIMSS will help to bring a sense of stability to the people of Haiti.”

Go to www.cidi.org/incident/haiti-10a/, the CIDI Web page to register and learn more about the support efforts. The Center, operated under a grant from the United States Agency for International Development's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance and initial support from IBM, has become a valuable resource to the public, as well as U.S. government agencies, foreign embassies and international corporations.
